Assistant Controller
United States Infrastructure Corporation (USIC) is the world’s largest underground utility locating firm with nearly 5,000 professionals in 29 states and Canada. USIC takes the business of protecting our customers’ infrastructure very seriously and is continuously exploring ways to leverage technology, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve results for our customers, stakeholders and shareholders.
General Summary of Duties:
Prepare and review monthly journal entries, financial statements and balance sheet account reconciliations
Prepare monthly consolidation entries
Assist with revenue recognition and monthly accrual entries
Ensure accurate asset management records including tax depreciation
Assist with implementation and calculation of bonus programs
Answer questions from field staff and resolve issues in regard to monthly reports
Assist with preparation and review of annual property tax returns and annual reports for all states
Assist with preparation and review of monthly sales/use tax returns and miscellaneous business license returns
Assist with gathering information for federal/state/local income tax returns
Assist with special projects, including:
-Annual audit
-Annual budget
-Weekly forecasts
-Documentation of procedures
-Software upgrades
-Due diligence
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree preferred
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
5-7 years combined public and/or industry accounting experience
Experience in the preparation of financial statements and financial analysis
Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and Outlook
PeopleSoft or similar ERP software experience preferred
Must be a fast learner, self starter and team player
Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
High level of written and verbal communication skills
