Department Marketing Statement Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery at St. Vincent includes adult cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and robotic procedures. Pediatric cardiac procedures are also performed in this department. The medical surgical team is comprised of many dedicated staff members including a circulator, a scrub nurse/technologist, an anesthesiologist, a team care specialist, perfusionists, nurses and doctors. Responsibilities Instrument Room Responsibilities Provides support for the sterile processing department by decontaminating surgical instruments, some equipment and other duties as needed. Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers and some equipment by using established protocols.Exhibits knowledge and skills related to the removal of bioburden in the decontamination process. Maintains requested logs. Responsible for pickup of soiled items in appropriate locations.
Scrub Responsibilities The Certified Surgical technologist (CST) prepares and maintains surgical rooms for cases according to aseptic techniques and the requirements for specific surgical procedures. The CST provides pre-and post-operative patient care and transport and meets various needs of the surgical team. The CST may also precept new CST associates. This position performs its duties and responsibilities in accordance with the St. Vincent mission and core values. Qualifications Must be a graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and lcc certified.
SKILLS REQUIRED Requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and team work. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
WORK SCHEDULE PRN position with variable hours, days and evenings. Looking for an associate to help cover vacations and provide support during high volume periods.
