Westview - Secretary/Phlebotomist Department: Westview - Laboratory Schedule: PRN (as needed) Shift: PRN (hours/shifts as needed by unit) Hours: PRN Job Details: * High School or Equivalent * DUTIES: * Handles all requisitions for preparing/sorting/posting for collection/charting/filing to designated areas. * Responsible for accurately taking phone or verbal orders from physicians and monitoring for receipt of written orders. * Receives patients and their families in a friendly, courteous, prompt manner. Collects test specimens from patients. * Answers telephone in a courteous, cooperative manner and routes incoming calls. * Expedites specimens to appropriate departments and laboratories. * Gives test results to appropriate personnel. * Initiates requisitions for tests done at other reference laboratories. * Assumes responsibility for proper collection of blood specimens as to correct time, patient identification, tube selection, phlebotomy technique and labeling. * Maintains the pending and result files in an orderly and current condition. * Orders and stocks adequate supplies for the office and phlebotomy closet. Keeps all areas neat and orderly. * Enters data, proper billing and physician's orders into the computer. * Receives and distributes incoming mail. * Processes pathology specimens for send-out. * Files correspondence and other records. * Maintains confidentiality. Performs duties with honesty, fairness, ethics and good corporate citizenship to ensure corporate compliance.
EXPERIENCE:Phlebotomy skills preferred
EDUCATION:High school graduate or equivalent;Medical terminology preferred
